“IELTS teaches skills that you need in your whole life: Speaking, Writing, Listening and Reading.” ~ Dalia Bebars
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) came into existence in 1989. It is jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment.
The English Language proficiency test is designed to assess the language ability of non-native individuals who wish to study or work in a country where English is the medium of instruction.
Millions of people sit for the exams every year. In 2007, IELTS administered more than one million tests in a single 12-month period for the first time ever. This makes it the world's most popular English language test for higher education and immigration.
With the continuous increase in a number of people taking the exam, the competition is getting tougher each year. Many students fail to pass the IELTS examination. Proper guidance in form of a reliable and competent IELTS Tutor is vital to crack this competitive exam.
The IELTS exam uses a nine-band scale to clearly identify levels of proficiency, from non-user (band score 1) through to expert (band score 9). There are two versions of the IELTS exam, each with a different purpose:
Both versions provide a valid and accurate assessment of the four language skills:
The test of Listening, Reading and Writing are taken on the same day back to back without any breaks in between. The test of Speaking may be held on the same day as the other three tests, or up to seven days before or after that. When taking the IELTS exam, all the 4 sections will be tested in less than three hours. The structure of the exam is as follows:
|STRUCTURE OF IELTS EXAMINATION|
