    Experience :

I am a licensed art psychotherapist, with a background in psychology. I am not only interested in teaching but also tend to use psychological techniques to help my students with memory, cognition and learning. From what I have learnt from my psychotherapy training, I will also pay attention to the emotional context of children and it has been proven that motivation has a close link to emotion. As such, I am able to take on more 'problem' students and help them cope not only with their studies but also with their daily lives.  7 years of teaching experience 25 students in total English Literature and English, from primary to upper secondary to 'A' Levels and IB, psychology, philosophy and Japanese at undergraduate level. Students achieve a moderate improvement on grades but most importantly, they become more interested in the subject matter and I believe that as long as I can instil an inherent interest of the student in the subject, they will continue on to do their own self-study well beyond the tuition hour.  Taught tutorials on psychology at an undergraduate level when I was doing my honours at University of Otago, New Zealand (2008). Tutored a dyslexic student at Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore while I was studying for my masters (Jan 2012 - Apr 2013). Gave lectures and presentations on topics on psychology, philosophy and psychotherapy to universities, schools and organizations (2009 - 2013). Won Japanese speech contest (2003). Won English essay writing and speech competitions (high school, 1999 - 2000).
