    Experience :

I am a graduate student in my 3rd year at NTU, currently persuing my Masters degree in Chinese Studies (specialization in Chinese Philosophy). I have yet to teach any students at primary/ secondary/ JC level, however, as part of the Research Scholarship agreement I have with NTU, I have assisted my thesis advisor as her Teaching Assistant (TA) in the modules she teach. Specifically, I have tutored students (2 tutorial groups weekly, around 25 students each group) in "An Introduction to the History of Chinese Thought", a core module all undergraduate students are required to take in order to graduate. Most undergraduate students fear this module due to its complexity (this situation is not unlike how our Pri/Sec/JC students fear Chinese as a language), however, through a systematic analysis of the texts involved, I have been able to coach most of them to obtain a respectable grade (B+ to A).    As an undergraduate, I focused greatly on my academics. I graduated from NTU Chinese in 2012 with First Class Honors and a GPA of 4.85, and was awarded the Lee Kwan Yew Gold Medal Award (awarded to the top graduate of the cohort) and the Singapore Nanyang Confucian Association Award (awarded in recognition of accomplishments in studying Confucian philosophy). For my continued participation in the URECA project, I was also given the honorary title of URECA President Research Scholar upon graduation. I was on the Dean's List for most of my undergraduate years and was also recommended by my Final Year Project (FYP) advisor as a Research Assistant (RA). It was for these reasons that my FYP advisor offered to guide me in my Masters thesis following my graduation. Naturally, I do not assume that those who learn well teach well, however, I believe that with my experience as a TA and my mastery of the Chinese, I would be able to help students along in their quest to master the language.
