    Experience :

    I am passionate about Literature and teaching. Therefore, it was not a difficult career choice for me to choose to be a full time tutor. Personally, I feel that every student has different needs and it is critical for me to cater my lesson according to his or her abilities and interests in order to carry out a meaningful lesson. I do not believe in using the word "weak" to describe ANY student; I believe in guiding the student to achieve the best that he or she can do. Everyone can succeed but first, I must believe in my student. My teaching philosophy is this: 

    1.    I will inspire them to be caring individuals by setting a good example. The emphasis will be on learning to listen as I believe that we have become a narcissistic society and we need learn how to listen in order to communicate well.

    2.    Encourage them to take ownership of their learning. Students should be as curious as fish. I want my students to be brave and pose their questions. They need to understand that their questions are essential in the learning process.

    3.    Guide them to have a positive attitude towards learning. It is okay to not know but it’s not okay to not try. I want my student to be able to try without the fear of getting the answers wrong. Most of all, I want my students to learn how to be receptive to feedback so that they will be prepared when they are working adults in society.


    Last but not least, I love learning and there is a certain lack of joy in learning for many students, especially in English and Literature. I seek to change them for my students. I want them not just to learn, but to want to learn.

    Achievement: My Secondary 1 student improved from a failure in poetry to obtaining a runner-up in the next class test.
