|Qualification :|| SINGAPORE MANAGEMENT UNIVERSITY [...]
My background: I have a Taiwanese mother who taught me the Mandarin language. What differentiates me from the rest: I have learnt the language in a meaningful yet creative manner from her, instead of the rote learning method of the Singaporean education system. My pronunciation is unadulterated as I am trained to speak proper mandarin at home m. Taiwanese mandarin is as different from the American English to the British English. It is 95% similar, with a mild exception some vocabulary used. In my opinion, Taiwanese mandarin is easier on the ears as compared to Mainland chinese accent, probably due to the Japanese influence. Taiwanese too, phrase their words in a much more polite manner as compared to the Mainland Chinese. Interests: I have a keen interest in teaching mandarin to families who are willing to learn it together. I've had 3 months experience teaching Mandarin to a German family but unfortunately they had to relocate back to Germany. I enjoyed the experience very much as the family took keen interest in picking up the language. I am great with children, as I have had experience teaching a family of 3 for 5 years throughout college.
