I have been teaching for 4 years since I was in Dunman High (JC). I am taught over 10 students, including P3-P6 Maths & Science, Sec 1-2 Maths & Science, as well as Sec 3-4 E&A Maths, Physics and Chemistry (both pure and combined). One student, for example, is still with me now, and is in Geylang Methodist Secondary School, Sec 2 NA. He has been failing his class tests back in Primary School when I just started teaching him, and for his recent Maths & Science class tests he can get an equivalent of A2 and A1 respectively. My teaching method depends on the student. The student I mentioned above has a short attention span, so I would always use diagrams and analogies to keep him interested. For those who are careless, I will tell them tips to reduce careless mistakes, and for those with conceptual difficulties, I will explain the concepts in detail first, often accompanied by mind maps. I feel that understanding the concepts is more important than doing the questions, so I will also go for the concepts first. Back in JC, I had been teaching my classmates as well, helping them with concepts and questions.
Personally, I have just completed NS and is waiting for University. I have been accepted into NUS school of science, and also conditionally offered into University of Cambridge to read Mathematics. Of course, Matheamtics is my favourite subject, followed perhaps by Chemistry.
