      I am a resolute believer in building relationships with primary school children before dispensing the professional duties of a teacher. I fully trust in the element of personal connection and touch with students as an effective gateway for both them and yourself - a teacher, mentor, and coach - to receive and impart knowledge meaningfully. Passionate and sincere about my job as I firmly believe in the potentially vast extent of influence a teacher has on her kids, being responsible for their holistic development as an individual of character and with respectable values as a person, not just being solely accomplished in their academics. I prize the growth of my child's character and the blossoming of his own identity/personality before his grades (e.g. I often help to build and bolster their confidence in their weak subjects first, rather than simply having them do questions after questions in a mundane, and often meaningless, manner). Only when he has regained his self-confidence would I move into honing his technical skills of interpreting and answering questions.       Emphasizes making learning an enjoyably comfortable, non-dreadful process as students will definitely retain concepts much better, rather than learning in a mundane (conventional) environment. Quality of lesson delivery, while, will not be compromised.

      Takes time and is very patient in correcting any misconception in pupil's understanding before teaching any new concepts. This will prevent unnecessary trouble and wastage of precious time in fixing any erroneous thinking in future.

      Innovates/Modifies teaching to accommodate student's speed and ease at picking up new concepts eg coming up with own/consolidating FAQs across primary school exam papers.

      Has also dealt with a few pupils with behavioural impairments that might make "conventional" learning difficult / unsuitable for them. My response would be to tailor the lesson and materials to suit and compliment the students' preferences and needs instead, rather than simply force "route" learning upon them (when they are already struggling academically). Also, I am a firm believer of a strong teacher-pupil relationship as kids would be more receptive to a teacher who is both a friend and a mentor, someone they can look up to and/or even confide in.

      Passionate and able to help students perform better in their academics by forging a lasting teacher-pupil relationship with them. Drawing from my own past and personal experience as one, and from the feedback of my ex-pupils, students would feel more comfortable and hence encouraged to seek help in their studies when the environment is a conducive, stress-free and motivational one for learning. Rest assured I will still maintain my professionalism as a teacher throughout. I am also very open to feedback / comments from parents and I will do my best to cater to their demands, in addition to their child's.

After being initially accepted into NUS, I decided to transfer to UoMelb to widen my horizons and pursue a course that I felt more passionate about. My online ZOOM lessons and how I can help: 1) *advanced, for students who wish to be ahead of their class – I will provide a full set of comprehensive notes and downloadable materials, covering every topic in the syllabus. If we were to start lessons (2hrs/wk) in January, we would be able to cover the entire JC syllabus (JC1 & 2) by December of JC1. During the lessons, I will introduce the content and break it down into key points to avoid overwhelming students. We will work on understanding and building a strong foundation, such that students will be able to use class time (in school), more productively. They will be better able to assimilate lecture content and tackle tutorial questions. Moreover, they will be able to save time and start revising earlier, without needing to go home and play catch up, after school. 2) for students who wish for more practice/revision materials – Students can also request sessions dedicated to revision and practice questions, if they wish. When approaching examination dates, we will usually press pause on content and focus on practising questions from the examinable topics. Students are also welcome to bring in any questions they may have from schoolwork, and we can work on them together. Every week, I will also provide a small set of questions for students to consolidate the new content learnt (students can however, choose to do these in class, with me, as I don’t wish to stress them by giving extra work). 3) for students who may need extra help in other areas – Do let me know if there are any other ways, I can help :) Thank you! Currently, my experience teaching at a tuition center helps to streamline myself with the MOE syllabus better. I've had 8 years of IB teaching experience and currently have 3 students at hand now. Two of them are from HCI and another student is from ASC(I). IB requires a specific set of literature skill techniques that I was widely exposed to during my honours degree, which would be more than helpful for IB students building their analytical skillset. With my share of PSLE and O-level students over the 9 years, I've come to understand my students' key areas of weakness, namely composition, and comprehension. As such, guidance for these two areas is heavily emphasised. Students under my tutelage are given worksheets that have to strengthen and perfect their grammar as they are expected to score full marks in grammar sections. Worksheets are also tailored individually and accordingly to each student's weakness. With combined hard work, my students normally see at least a grade improvement after at least 3 months of working together. I believe every student has the capacity to excel and together, we can bring help to bring your child's English Language to excellence.
